Subject: Opportunity vs Opt Out
Webster defines opportunity as a situation in which something can be done. A favorable juncture of circumstances, a good chance for advancement or progress. Have you ever heard the phrase opt out? Probably not as much as days gone by; however, I am sure you have heard friends say, “ I am quitting or stepping down.” Ever wonder why people all of a sudden drop out of thin air? There making progress in life and suddenly, things don’t go their way and they choose to deny there very right for opportunity. Today, I want to challenge you to think about areas of your life that provide opportunity. As you woke up this morning, you have the opportunity to live! Tell me something; if you sleep in and miss class, how is that enabling favor to learn? If you decide not to eat breakfast and skip out on your workout, how is that advancing progress to a healthier you? Opportunity to choose! There used to be this commercial on tv about a vehicle service. “you can get the car oil change and pay me now, or you can wait until the engine blows up and pay me later.” I think you know, if your engine blows up, that’s a lot more expensive than an oil change. If we only take the opportunity and pay attention to the small things, we seldom end up worrying about the larger or more complicated things in life. As we choose wisely, we learn more easily. As we learn, we have the opportunity to practice those things and through this, comes growth. So, today is an opportunity to live, choose, learn, practice and grow. I encourage you to “move” through whatever is telling you to “opt out” and take charge of your life! Opportunity Challenge: Live to the fullest, Choose to be kind, Learn as much as you can inside the class and outside Practice a skill, Grow yourself to be a little taller, a little smarter, a little more knowledgeable. Don’t “opt out” in life! We need you!
